Join us in celebrating ten fascinating years
The end of a year is always a time for reflection on what has come before. But this year’s end is especially momentous for those of us who make up Apex Expeditions, because it marks the completion of our 10th year of offering one-of-a-kind adventures to the world’s most fascinating places. Although it seems incredible, it was a decade ago that we came together on this wild ride—and in doing so, created the best small expedition company in the world. And we couldn’t have done it without you.
So, join us as we celebrate our amazing 10-year journey together in the best way we know how: by looking back at how far we’ve come. We asked each of the eight partners of Apex to tell the story of how they came to be part of this pioneering venture. Watch our video above to see the result—the origin story of Apex Expeditions. Because only by looking back at where you’ve been can you see where the path lies ahead…and ours leads to some pretty exciting places.

Impressive! It was a great idea to give us this inside of the partners’ first thoughts of Apex. I’m just sorry I didn’t learn about Apex’s existence until I saw their participation in Heritage Expeditions’ Indonesia cruise this year. But it is never too late for new adventures!
Wonderful.
I just wonder what the nest 10 years will bring.
Greetings and best wishes to the entire Apex gang.
What a great video… bravo! We have been on 5 expeditions so far and are getting set for number 6. We can’t wait to see our “friends”!
What a fabulous video. Thank you all for sharing the story from the beginning. I was so excited about your trip to Japan/Russia in 2020 and curious if that will happen again. In the meantime, I will keep perusing your fabulous offerings. Thank you so much for being a special, intimate organization that provides the very best of spectacular trips.
Very interesting. Did 3 trips with Zegrahm and 3 with Apex. They have fantastic leaders.
A wonderful story, we will always travel with you……….
Wonderful. Thank you for sharing, and for taking us on such fantastic adventures. As I tell our friends and family, “Traveling with Apex Expeditions is not a vacation, it is an adventure!” Congratulations!
WOW! Thank you for sharing your story! I personally would like to thank each of you for your dedication to making Apex Expeditions what it is! I am so grateful that I happened to stumble onto your company on an Arctic cruise aboard Silversea…since I wasn’t one of your Zegrahm travelers. Traveling with Apex has changed my life in so many wonderful ways, your team is exceptional in all ways, the people and friends I have made, the places and things I have experienced on the trips I have taken, have touched my heart in ways I didn’t know were possible. So from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU Apex Expeditions. May the next stage of exploration and adventures be as exciting for you and the team as it will be for those of us lucky enough to travel with you! I will continue to sing your praises to all friends and travelers I meet! Again, Thank you!
This was an excellent video of the story of Apex. The timing was great as 2024 ends, and we are looking forward to 2025 and the future. Thank you and many happy and adventurous new years to come.
Our Story
2014 Zegrahm Tahiti to Easter Island:
hush hush please meet us for dinner we need to talk: Jonathan and Gi give us a rundown on the new company, ideas and ideals.
Flashback:
2009 Zegrahm PNG and post expedition
“if you want to see birds take off your xxx sunglasses” we meet Peter, and share his stories “looking for megapode: if you’re not sure say it’s a juvenile”
Our small camera and Changi bought binos (one pair for 2) are useless: Shirley shares her photos of the Fire Dance – we meet Shirley and discuss skiing…
We also meet The Troubadour and Man of the Renaissance on the post expedition: lots of stories, no quotes. (Kevin).
Flashback
April 9 2004, Yap
The Schwieger family (Dad, Mom 2 kids) are in trouble- Typhoon Sudal has struck the island and destroyed over 90% of the island structures including our Manta Bay hotel.
They need to be evacuated and meet a “well organised American group of tourists” who kindly help them get airlifted to Guam. They then continue their diving trip tp Palau as planned.
This “well organised American group” is the Zegrahm lot. The EL was Linda…
Fast forward:
In 2016 we join Apex on the Greenland to Baffin expedition (yes we got fantastic pics of Narwahl- by then we had graduated to decent photographic gear, and a pair of binos per person.)
The rest is… HISTORY.
Thanks for bringing back so many extraordinary memories of places and adventures with Apex leaders and travelers.
